I just spent hours getting the 0.9.0.7 bsp flash and full yocto boot images working. Interestingly all of the GPIO pins are enable in /sys/class which means that the Python library you wrote will interact with the file system in some unknown way. Would be interested in any updates you make. Also, the Wyliodrin web based development environment is using some of the libraries originally developed for Raspnerry PI (wiring PI) which might also be the way forward for Python development standard, (they also support C, and, look to be supoprting Pascal in the future (UCSD pascal was a favourite of mine in the 1970's when I started out in this industry)). Wiring PI is quite well supported.
